Study Background
Influenza virus commonly causes respiratory symptoms and has the potential to develop into serious illness especially in high-risk groups such as older people and those with underlying conditions.
This research study is for a new rapid diagnostic test for influenza. The device aims to be an easily accessible self-testing solution for people who are experiencing respiratory symptoms to quickly diagnose influenza without needing to attend a clinic.
Study Details
The study would require you to come to the clinic once for about 1 hour. The visit would involve a nasal swab which would be inserted into a testing device that links to a phone app and another swab taken by a study personnel to be sent to a lab for testing.
You will be reimbursed for your time and expenses related to the research study.
Eligibility Criteria
Must be currently experiencing one or more symptoms of respiratory illness (e.g. cough, runny nose, congestion, headache, fever, nausea, vomiting)
